I just bought a new win 10 pavilion notebook and was setting it up so it bypassed the lock screen/password feature. It was doing as I set it up. It would log on to windows automaticaly . I downloaded an app from the app store and it made me sign in to a microsoft account to be able to download apps.
The next time I started the computer up it had the lock screen ( does not work ) and the name was chaned to my microsoft account name ( e-mail) and I had to sign in with my microsoft account password. it had hijacked or taken over my start-up that I already had configured when I set the computer up.
I know how to delete the microsoft account what I am concerned about is the feedback I have been reading about people not being able to access their computers after deleting microsoft account from their computers even after going to netplwiz and removing the click mark from having to use a password.
The user accounts on my computer show only the microsft account.
What should I do before deleting the Microsoft Account to insure I can get back on my computer and log in to windows ?
There is a local account option but it also has failed many trying to delete microsoft account. ( online forumms feedback)
What should I do ?
Thanks,

Hi,
That is one way our big brother wants us to follow specially when you need to use Windows Store to update apps. Your Microsoft account keeps your information, profile .... This is good when you rebuild your machine.
You already have a local account to work on, please use it, keep Microsoft account out and turn off auto update. You have to create another MS account if you wish to update appls on your computer.
Regards.

Thanks for your response. I am going to delete all the apps from the store so I am not worried about updates for them, Are you talking about windows updates ? Turn them off ? or is there a place to turn off microsoft accounts updates ? I am worried about not being able to access my computer after microsoft account is deleted. Online forums show a large majority of people have problems and one said you have to set up a local account 1st before you delete the microsoft account . What do you think ?

Hi,
Yes, you have to have local account with admin privileges first before you can play around with your Microsoft account. With me, for convenience, I keep my Microsoft Account (same for all my machines because I use MS Exchange) but work on local account for each machine (they are not the same).
Please read the following article to comppare 2 account types
Regards.

Thanks for all of your help.
When I click on sign in with a local account will that set-up make me the administrator that you are talking about in the last post ? I was the administrator when i first set up the computer but when I go to "Accounts" all that shows is the microsoft account. Will it just "fall back" to the origional set up ?
How do I check to see if I have the proper administrator privileges to delete Microsoft Account" and still be able to access my computer.

I could not get the win key to bring up accounts, but the screen image you posted looks the sam e as the one shown when you go to setting and then accounts. Mine has my microsoft account e-mail in it and says I am the administrator. But there are no other accounts listed. Does that mean my original set up is gone ? I noticed the click mark in (netplwiz) is in the box about not using passwords at start-up. When I set the computer up I chose not to use passwords at start up.
Should it not just revert back to my original settings when Microsoft Account is removed ? or did the account wipe out the original set up settings.

Hi,
Sorry I don't know how you were grtting the situation in the first place. Now, you can use Microsoft account and create Local account again and use Local account to logon machine.
As you can see (the blue line on the above image) I can logon to my Microsoft account any time. This machine is my loan machine and I want to keep it simple like a normal user.
Regards.

HI,
So i set up a local accout and then either keep the link to microsoft account or delete the account. Once I set the local account up is it safe to delete the microsft account, a lot of people complain about not having access to their computer after doing it, Does the local account make me adminitrator of my windows 10 computer ?
