Hi @CHOLITO,
Thank you for your response,
If the advanced options are hidden. Here are some steps you can try.
Accessing the BIOS:
- Restart your laptop and repeatedly press the Esc key (or F10 for some models) right after turning it on to access the BIOS menu.
Navigating the BIOS:
- Look for sections like "Advanced," "CPU Configuration," or "Power Management." If these options aren’t visible, you may need to unlock them.
Unlocking Advanced Options:
- Some HP laptops have a hidden advanced menu that can be accessed by pressing specific key combinations, such as Ctrl + Alt + S or Ctrl + Shift + A. This can vary by model, so you may need to check your specific laptop's documentation.
BIOS Update:
- Ensure your BIOS is up to date. Sometimes, an update can unlock additional options. You can check for BIOS updates on the HP support website for your specific model.
Using HP Software:
- If you can’t access advanced options in the BIOS, consider using HP's software tools. HP Command Center or HP Performance Advisor might provide some control over power settings.
Disabling SpeedStep via Software:
- If BIOS access is not possible, you might also explore software options. Tools like ThrottleStop or Intel XTU can allow you to manage CPU settings, including disabling SpeedStep.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @CHOLITO,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To disable Intel SpeedStep on your HP Pavilion 14, you can usually do this through the BIOS settings. Here’s how to access the BIOS and make the change.
- Restart Your Laptop: Turn off your laptop and turn it back on.
- Enter BIOS: As soon as the HP logo appears, repeatedly press the Esc key (or F10 on some models) until you see a menu. From the menu, select F10 to enter the BIOS setup.
- Navigate to Advanced Settings: Use the arrow keys to navigate. Look for a tab that says Advanced or Configuration.
- Locate SpeedStep: Find the option for Intel SpeedStep, Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology, or something similar. It might be under a submenu like CPU Configuration.
- Disable SpeedStep: Change the setting to Disabled.
- Save and Exit: After making the change, look for the option to Save and Exit (usually F10), and confirm your choice.
- Reboot: Your laptop will restart with the new settings.
Note:
Disabling Intel SpeedStep can lead to increased heat and reduced battery life, so make sure you monitor your system after making this change. If you're still facing performance issues, consider checking for thermal throttling, updating drivers, or running a system diagnostics.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for answering, the problem is that in the bios of my laptop, the advanced options section does not appear, do you know if there is any special command to make it appear? Or if it is blocked, how can it be unlocked to deactivate that option? since it is a not so old processor and it is a laptop that can still be used for many things, plus I don't think it is worth buying another computer for something like this, thank you very much
