Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have extacted sp144692.exe. If I manually run InstallHPSA.exe -s HP Support Assistan will be installed successfully. If this same command is run by Intune the installation process will fail.

Shortcuts like Fn+F5 starts working but Support Assistant won't start. There's only one file HPSupportAssistant.dll in folder C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Support Framework .

After manual install there are several files:

HP Support Assistant.ico
HPSupportAssistant.dll
<DIR> Modules
<DIR> Resources
TaskbarController.exe
UninstallHPSA.exe
<DIR> Warranty

I had the same problem and eventually worked out what the problem was.

When deploying the HP Support Assistant app via Intune you can select the install behavior of the app to be system or user. When the install behavior is set as system the app installs and only registers the HPSupportAssistant.dll because at some point in the installation it needs to run in user context to finish of installing the app and register the remaining files.

If you install the app using user behavior the app will try to install but more than likely will prompt for credentials as it needs administrative permissions to install the app as well as being able to install in user context.

I found on one of our Intune Configuration policies, you can enable a setting  that disables Powershell from running in user context which was causing the problem for us but that's set as security feature so we didn't really want to change that.

In short without the user having admin access or the system user being able to run in user context, the app won't fully deploy from Intune.

We've gone down the route of logging the user in without applying any polices, installing the app and then applying the polices afterwards.

I hope this this helps.
