HP Probook 450 G4
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

On other devices I could access the Synaptics settings and disable palm tracking, however on this laptop there's only a button pointing to the Windows 10 settings. I've set the touchpad to always on but it's still disabled while typing. How can I change this behaviour?

Also, not really as important, but where do I disable the mouse continiuing when reaching the edge of the touchpad and holding down the mouse button?

I managed to fix it myself by installing the Windows 10 PS/2 & SMBus Devices drivers at http://www.synaptics.com/resources. First I uninstalled the current drivers, rebooted, installed the new ones, rebooted again and then from the mouse options in Control Panel, clicked the devices tab, clicked properties for the touchpad, clicked change settings, clicked drivers and then update drivers. Then I clicked search drivers on my pc and choose from a list of drivers. I deselected only show compatible drivers, then selected Synaptics and then Synaptics SMBus TouchPad. When the driver finished installing I rebooted my pc and now the Synaptics options are available. I disabled palm tracking and now I can type while moving the mouse with the touchpad.

Hi,

My only suggestion is: Uninstall synaptics touchpad already installed from Device Manager.

Then download, save and install this driver:

This package contains the Synaptics Mouse driver. The driver provides advanced features such as PalmCheck, EdgeMotion, tap zones, double-tap, and tap-to-select.

Restart system. Uncheck Palm check feature from Synaptics Touchpad settings now.

Thank you for your reaction.

Reinstalling the driver did not change anything; I still can't access the Synaptics settings.

Yes I see.

Do you see any yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager now?

I've no idea what else I could offer you.

Did any Windows Updates cause this issue? Did this issue start recently?

I just got this laptop, since the first time I started it up it was like this. It seems like the Synaptics functions like the continuing moving the mouse when the user reaches the edge of the touchpad but I can't seem to access the settings of Synaptics.
