Notebook 17t-by200CPO

I cannot find a way to turn off the tap to select feature on my new Notebook. It has a Elan touchpad and all the instructions are for Synaptics touchpads. I am online with a MS agent and she is struggling to figure it out as well. Does anyone know how to turn off the tap to select feature?

Thanks,

Rob

Hi @Snakeoil52

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you. Let us try these steps:

  • Type Elan on the search bar and select the touchpad, look under settings to turn off on double tap
  • If that doesn't work, proceed to the next step

1. Open Task Manager. Terminate ETD Control Center,  ETD Control Center Helper, and ETDIntelligent.

2. Run Regedit. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Elantech\SmartPad

3. Scroll down to Tap_Two_Finger and Tap_Two_Finger_Enable. Change their value from 1 to 0.

4. Go to <C:\Program Files\Elantech> and run ETDCtrl.exe, ETDCtrlHelper.exe and ETDIntelligent.exe.

5. Now double tap should be turned Off.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
