The McAfee AV trial has ended. How do I uninstall it? I have my own AV installed, so don't need it. Even though I have clicked "accept risk" many times, it just keeps popping up. It is incredibly annoying.

McAfee is a program.

You can uninstall it using standard Windows "Uninstall" methods.

For example:

Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

Start (Windows key) > list apps > find McAfee > Right-Click > More (if necessary) > Uninstall

Settings > Apps > Apps and Features > scroll list, click on program > Uninstall

The challenge I have is that McAfee is not listed, whichever "uninstall program" route I go down. However, the "your McAfee antivirus has expired!" warning  nonetheless keeps popping up.

Interesting.

The left-over message may be a result of the software (only partially) removing itself after the first time you clicked on "Accept Risk".

I would guess you can track down the offending message in Notifications and switch it off there.  At the least, switching off all or selected Nofitications should eliminate the message even if the software is stubborn about being removed / uninstalled.

McAfee provides (at the link in my original post) a "second method" to remove the software - the "MCPR" tool that you download from MfAfee.  From your comments, I understand you have tried that - the reminder is for others reading this thread who may have missed the information.

Since the McAfee removal tool has failed, you might want to contact McAfee Support (bottom of page under "Contact us").

Microsoft provides a tool to remove stubborn software, though I have no way of knowing whether it can pry trial McAfee out of the File System.  If you have not done so, try that.

Stubborn software that will not go away

If printer or other software will not uninstall, appears to be removed and then shows up again, or is otherwise not “going away” when you tell it to do so, try an Uninstaller program.
