Hi, I've been trying to help with my brother's computer BIOS issues.
I tried to help by browsing the BIOS, among other things.
Laptop computer that is in use HP ProBook 430 G1 Notebook.
Operating system: Windows 10 Home version 10 22H2.
64-bits system.
I made connection remotely to his PC with third party software.
It turned out that the computer needed an update.
While browsing msinfo32, I found the information about BIOS version 01.06 Rev.
Updated laptop with help of Windows Update first.
Since it seemed like we couldn't install the MS Windows 11 version, we installed LMDE6.
The installation was successful. The installation was done using a USB stick.
The installation media was created using a program called Rufus.
Version 4.6.0.
When the computer was restarted, Linux did not start, even though the Linux installation went fine.
My brother is not that familiar with BIOS settings.
My brother also has a desktop computer, which also has MS Windows 10 Home 22H2 installed.
Since the BIOS version on laptop is outdated, I thought I'd update the BIOS.
Latest version that I found from HP Support site is 01.49 Rev.A from 19.. sept 2019.
Size 9.6 MB. Name sp99189.
How to update BIOS when there is any longer MS Windows 10 Home operating system ?
Any ideas are welcome

Hi:
Why not just reinstall W10 and update the BIOS?
Make a bootable W10 installation flash drive with the Media creation tool from the link below:
The only other way to do it according to the instructions would be to - Use System Software Manager (SSM) to update the system BIOS on PCs in a network.
You wouldn't be able to do that unless the PC was connected to a corporate network.
You can also install W11 on the notebook using Rufus if you watch this video, but I don't know if it is a good idea to update the BIOS in W11 when it was written to be run using W10.
