How do i connect my Virgin Tivo box to my HP laptop to use as a monior, apart from obviously connecting the Hdmi cable. Is there a driver or some other software needed, or should something open automatically?

Your notebook's HDMI port is output only which means that you cannot use your notebook's screen as a display for an external device.

 

I don't know of any notebook where that is possible.

That seems odd as someone else had posted separately how they'd used their laptop as a monitor connected to a Viegin Tivo box but just didn't explain how they'd done it.

What alternative connection would we need to have to use the laptop as a monitor? Usb? Or one of those telepgone type (can't think whst they're called) sockets and lead?
