Hi @GrantMcLachlan,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "00A System Board CT not valid" error typically indicates an issue with the system board's configuration or a problem with the BIOS/firmware. For HP laptops, the HP DMI (Desktop Management Interface) Tool is used to update the system board's information, but it's important to note that this tool isn't always readily available or user-friendly for all models.
Here’s how you can address this issue.
Update BIOS/UEFI Firmware:
- Visit the HP Support website and search for your specific laptop model (HP 15-ac107ni).
- Download and install the latest BIOS/UEFI firmware update available for your model. Sometimes, updating the BIOS can resolve system board errors.
Check for HP DMI Tool:
- HP doesn't always provide a specific DMI Tool for all laptop models. For some HP laptops, the DMI Tool may be available through HP Support or could be included in the BIOS update package.
- Contact HP Support directly to inquire if a specific DMI Tool is available for your model.
Reset BIOS to Default:
- Enter the BIOS/UEFI settings during startup by pressing F10 or Esc and then F10 on boot.
- Look for an option to "Load Setup Defaults" or "Reset to Default."
- Save and exit the BIOS.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off your laptop.
- Disconnect all external devices and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn the laptop on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
