Hello dear HP community,

I tried to set up the fingerprint reader but it is not recognize by Windows 11 system. I tried updating the driver but last driver update for Synaptic fingerprint driver is for Win. 10. I also tried uninstalling the driver but after rebooting the laptop, no driver to be found in Device Manager.

I try downloading many synaptic fingerprint divers and now I'm not able to reinstall the initial driver wbf_vfs_003f

Can someone help me first by telling me how can I reinstall successfully this driver (when I tried to reinstall it ; device manager tells me that the installation is successful and installed on 0 device). And if someone was able to make Windows 11 recognize this fingerprint reader. Is this driver only available and recognized on Win 10 ? Why does Windows isn't asking me to reinstall the deleted driver?

Thank you very much

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to try manually installing the driver from the fingerprint reader device (wbf_vfs_003f).

To do that, go to the device manager, click on the wbf_vfs_003f device needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver.

Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.

That folder should be located in C:\SWSetup\sp96234.

Make sure that the Include subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.

Did you check the Windows update advanced options section for any drivers that are pending to install?

Maybe the driver you need is there.
