Hi @Nalini29,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

There could be several reasons why your HP laptop is not charging properly. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Check the Power Outlet and Charger:

  • Ensure that the power outlet is working properly by plugging in another device.
  • Verify that the charger is not damaged. Check for any frayed wires or bent connectors.

Inspect the Power Cord and Connections:

  • Examine the power cord for any visible damage. If you notice any issues, consider replacing the cord.
  • Ensure that the connection between the power cord and the laptop is secure.

Restart Your Laptop:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve charging issues. Shut down your laptop, disconnect the charger, and then restart the laptop before reconnecting the charger.

Update Battery Driver:

  • Go to "Device Manager" on your laptop.
  • Locate the "Batteries" category and expand it.
  • Right-click on all entries under "Batteries" and select "Update driver."

Check Power Settings:

  • Open "Control Panel" and go to "Power Options."
  • Make sure that your power plan is set to allow charging. Adjust the settings if necessary.

Calibrate the Battery:

  • Occasionally, calibrating the battery can help. To do this, let your laptop run on battery power until it shuts down, then recharge it to 100%.

Update BIOS:

  • Visit the HP support website for your laptop model and check for BIOS updates. If available, follow the instructions to update the BIOS.

Run Battery Diagnostics:

  • Some laptops come with built-in diagnostics tools. Check your laptop's documentation or visit the HP support website for instructions on running battery diagnostics.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your operating system is up-to-date. Sometimes, Windows updates include fixes for power-related issues.

Battery Replacement:

  • If none of the above solutions work, there might be an issue with the battery itself.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
