Hi @Swamynath,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Notebook 15-bs542TU is showing the error “We cannot find your camera”, it usually means the webcam is either disabled, not detected, or the driver is missing or corrupted. Here's how to fix it:
Step-by-Step Fix for Webcam Not Detected
1. Check if the Camera is Disabled
- Press Fn + F6 or F10 (depending on your model) to toggle the camera on/off.
- Some HP laptops have a physical privacy shutter near the webcam. Make sure it’s open.
2. Check Device Manager
- Press Windows + X > Device Manager.
- Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
- If you see your camera listed, right-click > Enable (if disabled).
- If it’s not listed or shows a yellow warning icon:
- Right-click and choose Uninstall device.
- Then click Action > Scan for hardware changes.
3. Install or Update Camera Driver
- Visit the official HP support page for your model:
👉 HP Notebook - 15-bs542tu - Setup and User Guides | HP® Support - Download and install the latest camera or chipset drivers.
4. Check Camera Privacy Settings
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
- Make sure Camera access for this device is On.
- Also, enable Allow apps to access your camera.
5. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter diagnostics.
- Run the Camera Test under Component Tests.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
