Hi, I need your help please!
For about 2 - 3 months ago, my HP Stream 11 laptop started acting weird. E.g.:
- When i go to chrome it shuts down after
- Wallpaper goes to black
- Starts to freeze
- Constant software update recommendations, but when i go to udate it says there are no udpates
- Also storage says that its full when i have nothing on my laptop
I tried resetting the PC today while putting my laptop on charge.
When it finished, all of sudden for about more than 4 hours, the screen is black.
When i turn on the laptop the butten OFF/ON light goes on, but there is no screen activation or hardrive sound at all!
Please share with me any tips on how to fix this problem.
Thank you!

Hi @MT106,
Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding assistance with your computer not booting to windows. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you correctly, I would require more information regarding this:
- Did this happen after a power outage or surge? Do you know?
- Did you run hardware diagnostics on the computer?
For now please try these steps:
- Please perform a hard reset first from this link: http://hp.care/2nwQ054
- Then run complete hardware diagnostics from this link: http://hp.care/2fv2vbW and follow the instructions in the option “Run the Extensive Test (2 hours or more)” If any component fails, it will report a failure code. Please make a note of it and contact HP phone support to get the computer serviced.
HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://hp.care/2r9wSvP
- Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
- Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
- Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
- Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.
- If diagnostics pass and the hardware is fully functional, then perform a system recovery to factory settings by following this guided troubleshooter: http://hp.care/2fvZLec if the recovery does not work, please order recovery media by contacting HP phone support.
- Once you receive it, you could follow the instructions on how to perform a system recovery from the same guided troubleshooter.
Please perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. The trick is to remain patient, Going by your technical expertise and competence I am sure you will be able to perform these steps without breaking a sweat. 🙂
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.
If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂
