I am having trouble typing the letter e. I believe this is a software problem rather than a hardware one because it goes away whenever I restart my computer, but comes back after I have been on for awhile or if the computer has gone to sleep. How do I trouble shoot this?.

Hi @Mens_Lassata,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're experiencing issues with a specific key on your HP Spectre x360 keyboard, and it seems to be a software-related problem that goes away after a restart, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.
Clean the Keyboard: First, make sure there's no physical obstruction or debris that might be causing the key to stick or malfunction. Turn off your laptop, disconnect it from any power sources, and gently clean around the problematic key using compressed air or a soft brush.
Update Keyboard Drivers:
- Go to the HP official website and navigate to the "Drivers and Downloads" section.
- Enter your laptop's model (Spectre x360 - 13t) and select the appropriate operating system (e.g., Windows 10, Windows 11).
- Download and install the latest keyboard or chipset drivers for your laptop.
Windows Update:
- Make sure your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes, driver and software updates can fix keyboard-related issues.
Keyboard Settings:
- Go to the "Settings" menu on your laptop.
- Click on "Devices," and then select "Typing."
- Disable any keyboard-related settings or options that you don't need. Sometimes, certain settings can interfere with normal keyboard operation.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Some third-party applications or utilities can interfere with keyboard input. Try to identify if the issue occurs after installing or updating specific software. Uninstall or update any recent software that might be causing the problem.
Check for Malware or Viruses:
- Perform a thorough malware and virus scan on your computer using a reputable antivirus program. Malware can sometimes cause unusual behavior on your computer, including keyboard issues.
Windows Troubleshooter:
- Run the built-in Windows Troubleshooter for hardware and devices. This tool can automatically detect and fix some hardware-related issues.
Keyboard Language and Input Method:
- Make sure that your keyboard language and input method are set correctly. Incorrect settings can sometimes lead to typing problems.
Check for Recent Updates: Sometimes, system updates can introduce bugs. If the issue started after a recent Windows update, consider rolling back to a previous update or waiting for a fix from Microsoft.
Create a New User Profile: Create a new user profile and check if the issue persists in the new profile. This can help determine if the problem is user-specific.
Reset Windows:
- If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you may consider resetting Windows. This will reinstall the operating system while keeping your personal files intact. Be sure to back up important data before doing this.
Remember to save any important work and data before attempting major system changes or resets.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
