Hi @Burnot,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you’re having trouble installing Synaptics Fingerprint drivers on Windows 11, follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
1. Verify Driver Compatibility
**1.1. Check Driver Compatibility
- Driver Version: Ensure that the Synaptics Fingerprint driver version you are trying to install is compatible with Windows 11. Sometimes drivers intended for older versions of Windows may not work correctly on newer operating systems.
- Manufacturer's Website: Visit the HP support website and check if there’s a specific driver for Windows 11.
**1.2. Update Windows
- Check for Updates: Make sure your Windows 11 installation is up-to-date. Go to Settings > Windows Update and install any available updates.
2. Install the Driver Properly
**2.1. Run as Administrator
- Install as Admin: Right-click on the driver installer and select Run as administrator. This ensures that the installer has the necessary permissions to make changes.
**2.2. Compatibility Mode
- Set Compatibility Mode: If the driver doesn’t install, try running the installer in compatibility mode:
- Right-click on the driver setup file.
- Select Properties.
- Go to the Compatibility tab.
- Check Run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows 10 or Windows 8.1.
- Click Apply, then OK, and run the installer.
3. Check for Driver Updates
**3.1. Windows Update
- Automatic Updates: Sometimes Windows Update can find and install the appropriate driver for your device. Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for updates.
**3.2. Device Manager
- Update via Device Manager:
- Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
- Locate the fingerprint device under Biometric devices or Other devices.
- Right-click on it and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
4. Install Synaptics Drivers Manually
**4.1. Download Latest Drivers
- HP Support Page: Download the latest Synaptics Fingerprint drivers from the HP support page specifically for your laptop model and Windows 11 if available.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
