I have a HP Pavilion and after I updated to windows 11, I haven' been able to open .png files. I have looked everywhere in photo settings and can't find anything to help. I can open other files but not .png. Could someone please help me.

I also have photos oh a HDD and it is doing the same thing but when I used windows 10, I was able to open then without a problem. Thanking you in advance for any help.

Check that the .png files can be opened with an installed application.

For example, Microsoft Photos is a generally accepted "default" that can open several kinds of image files, including .png files.

Settings > Apps > Default Apps

Scroll down (or Search) and open Photos > Search the list for .png and assign the file type to Photos

OR

Scroll down to Related Settings > and open Choose Defaults by file type

Scroll down or search for .png > Assign the file type to Photos
