When ever I try and go in the storage pafe from the settings, I cant change the "app download" position. I have this old laptop, that has only 28 gigabytes of stoarege in total, but I attached to it a micro Sd with 500 gigs of storage, but it wont let me change the app download options, only the others! Also when I go in the storage settings, and I try to delete Temporal files, and I click the button, it just keeps loading forever!

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.
I see that you are facing an issue with changing the download location on your Laptop.
Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issues with changing the download location and deleting temporary files:
Changing Download Location
File Explorer Method:
- Open File Explorer and right-click on the Downloads folder.
- Select Properties.
- Go to the Location tab.
- Click on Move, then select your micro SD card as the new location.
- Click OK and confirm if prompted.
Settings Method:
- Open Settings > System > Storage.
- Scroll down to More storage settings and click on Change where new content is saved.
- Check if the option for Apps is available. If it’s not allowing you to change it, your system may not recognize the SD card as valid for app storage.
Deleting Temporary Files
Disk Cleanup:
- Search for Disk Cleanup in the Start menu and open it.
- Select your main drive (usually C:).
- Check the boxes for Temporary files and any other categories you want to clean, then click OK.
- If this still hangs, try running Disk Cleanup as an administrator (right-click on Disk Cleanup and select Run as administrator).
Safe Mode:
- Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode.
- In Safe Mode, try deleting temporary files again through the Disk Cleanup utility or directly in the File Explorer.
Additional Steps
- Check SD Card Health: Ensure the micro SD card is functioning properly. You can do this by checking it on another device.
- Disk Management: Go to Disk Management (search in Start) to check if the SD card is properly recognized and has the correct file system (NTFS or exFAT is generally best).
- Update Drivers: Make sure your system is up to date. Sometimes, storage issues can be related to outdated drivers.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a great day ahead!
