When I open the Search bar and type 'Manage BitLocker', all I get is a list of 'Search Web Results'.

Typing 'BitLocker' alone into the Search bar, I see the following:
BitLockerWizardElev.exe
BitLockerDeviceEncryption.exe
and the options to 'Open', 'Run as Administrator' or 'Open File Location'.

This gives me the impression that BitLocker may not be installed on this machine because my understanding is that a .exe file needs to be run to install a program. Is BitLocker bundled into Windows 10 by default? Should it already be loaded on my Notebook or what please?

Do you have any other encryption software installed on the computer? Or Anti Virus program which supports encryption.

Cheers!

I do have AVAST AntiVirus loaded. I don't know if it supports encryption or not. I am not aware of having any other encryption software installed on the computer but I can't say 100% as I suppose it works in the background and therefore does not come to my attention. Is there a way to check? Also what about BitLocker? Do you also get the impression it must not be installed?

I recommend you contact support to further diagnose the issue.

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Cheers!

If you are getting warnings and everything is working ok then consider not updating the bios, there is nothing to be gained and everything to be lost.
