The specs of your machine is

       https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c06179804

It only has

  • Slow CPU: Intel® Core™ i3-7100U (2.4 GHz, 3 MB cache, 2 cores)
  • Small amount of RAM: 4 GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB)
  • Slow HDD: 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA

Nothing you can do with the existing CPU. Two things you can upgrade to make it run faster to avoid system to page/swap out many times in a second to a very slow HDD.

1. RAM: it supports 16GB max. You can

       (a) Add SAME existing 4GB to slot 2 to have 8GB or using

https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct4g4sfs824a/ct12589960            (RAM will run at 2133MH)

      (b) Install 8GB each to BOTH slots to have 16GB using

https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k8g4sfs824a/ct12589947     (RAM will run at 2133MHz)

2. Storage: you have 2 options

       (a) Replace 1TB HDD with 1TB 2.5" SSD there are many around or you can use Crucial MX500, Samsung 860EVO .... for example

               https://www.crucial.com/ssd/mx500/ct1000mx500ssd1/ct12589959

       (b)  Add 1TB of M.2 NVMe SSD to your machine and keep existing HDD. You can use Crucial P1 series or Samsung 970EVO series or similar. For example

              https://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/970-evo-nvme-m2-ssd/MZ-V7E2T0BW/

Now it is up to you to make decision.

My advise to you or any one who is looking for new machine: Please read the specs carefully before open your wallet and buy a right machine. Upgrading it later may cost more than buying the right machine in the first place.

Regards.

Note: If you do not have money right now to upgrade BOTH, please upgrade RAM first, this will reduce paging/swapping.
