@hepster, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Microphone Issues in Messenger on HP Laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To resolve the issue with the microphone not being shown in Messenger chats and the error code 43 in AMD, follow these steps:

Check the Microphone Connection

  1. Ensure that the microphone is properly connected to your laptop. If you are using an external microphone, try reconnecting it to ensure a secure connection.

Update Microphone Drivers

  1. Open the Device Manager by pressing Win + X and selecting Device Manager.
  2. Locate the "Sound, video and game controllers" category and expand it.
  3. Find your microphone in the list, right-click on it, and select "Update driver".
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to search for and install the latest driver software.

Check Privacy Settings

  1. Open the Start menu and select Settings.
  2. Navigate to Privacy > Microphone.
  3. Ensure that microphone access for apps is enabled and that Messenger has permission to use the microphone.

Resolve Error Code 43

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Locate the device that is showing the error code 43, which is usually under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".
  3. Right-click on the problematic device and select "Uninstall device".
  4. Restart your laptop. This will reinstall the driver automatically.

Configure Microphone in Messenger

  1. Open Messenger and go to the settings of your chat or call.
  2. Look for audio settings and ensure the correct microphone is selected.
  3. Restart Messenger and check if the microphone appears.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
