I recently brought a Grade A refurbished HP EliteBook 840 G2 but didn't realise til i recieved it that it has no operating systems. I can't seem to work out how to install or set up the computer. Any help appreciated.

Hi:
Enter the serial number of the notebook in the search window at the link below and see what version of Windows it came with (if it came with Windows).
Most 840 G2's came with a W8.1 product key in the BIOS and some came with a W10 product key in the BIOS.
Once you determine that, you can download the W8.1 ISO file from Microsoft and make a bootable installation flash drive with Rufus...
Download Windows 8.1 Disc Image (ISO File) (microsoft.com)
Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way
...and if it came with a W10 product key in the BIOS, you can use the Media creation tool to create a bootable USB installation flash drive.
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
After Windows has installed, you can install the drivers and available software from the notebook's support page.
