@TILBE, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it can be to experience performance issues right out of the box—especially with a system that has a 16 GB RAM and SSD. Let’s walk through a few steps to help speed things up:
Run HP Performance Tune-Up Check
HP provides a built-in tool to optimize your system:
- Download and install HP Support Assistant if not already installed.
- Open it and go to "Troubleshooting and Fixes" > "Performance Tune-up Check".
- Let it scan and apply recommended optimizations.
You may refer to this link - HP Performance Tune-Up Guide
Check for Windows and Driver Updates
Outdated drivers or Windows updates can cause performance issues.
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all available updates.
- Also, visit the official HP driver page for your model and update all drivers: Official HP® Support

Disable Startup Programs
Too many apps launching at startup can slow things down.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Go to the Startup tab and disable unnecessary apps.
Check for Background Processes
- In Task Manager, check the Processes tab to see if any app is using high CPU, memory, or disk.
- Right-click and End Task for any non-essential apps.
Scan for Malware
Even new systems can sometimes come with pre-installed bloatware or malware.
- Run a full scan using Windows Defender or a trusted antivirus.
Check Storage Space
Ensure your SSD isn’t nearly full:
- Go to Settings > System > Storage and free up space if needed.
- You can also run Disk Cleanup by typing it in the Start menu.
