HP Notebook, Product number X7W84UA#ABA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Notebook (X7W84UA#ABA) camera does not work.  The camera comes on but it will not let the lens take the picture; it is grayed/blacked out. It is as if there was a cover over the lens. I get an error when I take the picture: 0xA00F4240<Uknown>(0x80004003) and 0xa00f4240(photocapturestarttimeout).

I have checked for updates from MS Store.  I have reset the camera.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled.  I have ensured the camera is on to work with apps.  I am at a loss as to what is wrong

@Klammy, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I see that you have issues with webcam, follow the steps below-

1) In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
2) Expand the Imaging Devices.
3) Right-click on the HP Webcam and select Uninstall.
4) Confirm the uninstallation.
5) Restart the computer to reinstall the Webcam driver.

Try updating your computer -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Download and install the BIOS from this link.

I had already done all the suggestions you have provided.  I again repeated them.  My camera is on but the lens is not seeing anything.

@Klammy

This looks like a hardware issue.
