Hi @MarioSA,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I completely understand how stressful and confusing this situation can feel. You’re trying to move forward with your Windows 11 upgrade, and the process keeps stopping because of the Conexant ISST audio driver. It can feel like you’re right at the finish line, but one small component keeps closing the door. Please don’t worry, we will go through this carefully and safely, step by step.

STEP 1: Check Your Current Conexant Driver Version

  1. Press Windows key → type Device Manager
  2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers
  3. Right‑click Conexant ISST AudioProperties
  4. Open the Driver tab
  5. Note the version

If your version is 9.0.278.150 or older, that specific driver is known to block Windows 11 feature updates.

STEP 2: Try Updating Through Windows Update (Optional Updates)

  1. Open Settings
  2. Go to Windows Update → Advanced Options
  3. Select Optional updates
  4. Look under Driver updates
  5. Install any Conexant or Synaptics/Conexant‑related update

(Conexant audio is now owned by Synaptics; some updates show under Synaptics.)

STEP 3: Try Your HP Model’s Last Available Conexant Driver

Many HP models use a final “stable” Conexant ISST version.
HP’s support community recommends using the PC maker’s latest release because Conexant stopped publishing newer ones.

To download:

  1. Visit support.hp.com
  2. Enter your laptop’s product number
  3. Go to the Driver – Audio section
  4. Install the newest Conexant ISST package shown

If no Windows 11 driver exists, the Windows 10 version is the last one provided.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
