Hi @Hubert8386

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you unblock and update the BIOS on your HP laptop:

1. Ensure You Have the Correct BIOS Version

  • Verify your current BIOS version: Before proceeding with a BIOS update, you should check the current BIOS version on your system. To do this:
    • Press Windows + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter.
    • In the System Information window, look for BIOS Version/Date in the right-hand pane.
    • Compare this version with the latest BIOS update available on the HP support website for your laptop model.
  • Download the Correct BIOS: Visit the HP Support website and search for your notebook model (HP Notebook 15-bs637tx). Find the Drivers & Downloads section and check for the latest BIOS update for Windows 10 (64-bit).

2. Disable Secure Boot (If Blocked)

Secure Boot is a security feature that can sometimes prevent BIOS updates, as it ensures only trusted software runs during startup. To disable Secure Boot:

  • Enter BIOS Setup:
    • Turn off your laptop.
    • Turn it back on, and immediately press the Esc key repeatedly to access the Startup Menu.
    • Press F10 to enter the BIOS Setup.
  • Disable Secure Boot:
    • In the BIOS menu, go to the Security tab.
    • Select Secure Boot Configuration.
    • Set Secure Boot to Disabled.
    • Save your changes and exit the BIOS (press F10, then confirm with Yes).

3. Disable HP Sure Start (If Applicable)

HP laptops have a feature called HP Sure Start that can sometimes block BIOS updates to prevent unauthorized modifications.

  • To disable HP Sure Start, you will need to access the BIOS setup again (as described above).
  • Once in the BIOS, look for HP Sure Start or a similar option under the Security or Advanced tab, and disable it.

4. Update the BIOS via Windows

Once Secure Boot and any protections like HP Sure Start have been disabled, you can proceed with the BIOS update. Download the BIOS update utility for Windows from HP's website (it will usually come as a .exe file).

Run the BIOS Update:

  • Double-click the .exe file to start the BIOS update process.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions, ensuring that you do not interrupt the process. The computer will likely restart a few times during the update.

Important: Make sure your laptop is plugged into a power source during the BIOS update process. A power failure during a BIOS update could brick your laptop.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
