Welcome to the HP Community --

Switch on Developer Mode.

What else?

Your HP Chromebook is essentially a Google Chromebook with an HP logo imprinted on the case.

The Operating System for Chromebook is ChromeOS

What you can do depends on what the Operating System supports.

Install & use Android apps on your Chromebook

What else?

There are a multitude of articles on the Internet about this subject.

Should you wish for some reason to avoid asking at the source (Google ChromeOS), make use of search and find a result that makes sense to your situation.

AI knows how to answer this question --

Installing Apps on a Chromebook

Chromebooks can run apps from two main sources: the Google Play Store and the Chrome Web Store. Here’s how to install apps from each.

Google Play Store

  1. Enable Google Play Store

    • Click on the clock in the bottom-right corner.
    • Select Settings (gear icon).
    • Under Apps, find Google Play Store and toggle it on.
    • Accept the terms and conditions.
  2. Download Apps

    • Open the Google Play Store from the app drawer.
    • Use the search bar to find the app you want.
    • Click Install next to the app name.
    • The app will appear in your app drawer once installed.

Chrome Web Store

  1. Access the Chrome Web Store

    • Open the Chrome browser.
    • Go to chrome.google.com/webstore.
  2. Install Apps

    • Search for the desired app or extension.
    • Click on the app, then select Add to Chrome.
    • Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Uninstalling Apps

To uninstall apps from either source:

  • From Google Play Store: Open the Play Store, go to My apps & games, select the app, and click Uninstall.
  • From Chrome Web Store: Go to Settings, select Apps, find the app, and click Uninstall.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • App Not Available: This may indicate compatibility issues. Check for Chrome OS updates in Settings > About Chrome OS.
  • Insufficient Storage: Free up space by removing unused apps or files.

By following these steps, you can easily install and manage apps on your Chromebook.
