Hi @Bill1775

Welcome to the HP Support Community! Thanks for posting your query!

That’s a great idea—you’re looking to add an internal DVD drive to your Pavilion Desktop with the Ryzen 7 5700. Before I can recommend the right drive, I’d like to understand a few details about your system and your needs so we can be sure it fits properly and works the way you expect:

  • Could you confirm the exact model number of your Pavilion Desktop? (For example, Pavilion TP01‑xxxx or similar.)
  • Does your current case have a visible 5.25‑inch bay on the front panel, or is it a closed design without an optical drive slot?
  • Are you looking for a DVD‑ROM (read‑only) drive, or a DVD‑RW (read/write) drive so you can burn discs?
  • Do you need Blu‑ray support, or is standard DVD functionality sufficient?
  • Is your main use case media playback, software installation, or archiving data?

Once I know these points, I can guide you toward the right type of internal drive and ensure compatibility with your Pavilion’s chassis and motherboard. Would you like to start by confirming the exact model number and whether your case has a front optical bay opening?

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
