So I gave away my computer for repair. And now I want to know if all the computer components are left in place. Is there a way to know this? That is, without disassembling the computer.

Interesting question --
If you send your computer to HP Support and have the device repaired by HP, changes are noted in the repair order.
If you "give away" you computer to have it repaired and the work repair paper work does not include a list of repairs and affected components, ask the tech who worked on the system.
PartSurfer might be able to tell you exactly which parts came installed with your device.
- For the most precise results, use your Serial Number for your search
- Reminder: Do NOT post private information (including serial number) in the Community
Open PartSurfer
- Select your Country
- Enter the device Product Number , Serial Number, or Part Number in the Quick Search box
- HINT: To see a system-specific list, replace the Product Number with your device Serial Number
- Items accompanied by a tiny box in the Add-to-Cart column are available for purchase
Parts marked as "n/a" (or are missing from the list) are not available from HP.

What else?
Without opening:
Check whether the components installed now match the previous configuration --
Create a list of system hardware ahead of time, that is, gather and save the information before you need it.
There are different software that might list what is installed in the computer.
There might be regional differences -- not all software is available everywhere.
