Hi!
I recently updated my pc and there have been some unfavourable updates that came along with it (I think). Before the update, when I held down my CAPS LOCK button, it would stay on one mode. (So for example, if it is initially turned off, and I held it down, it would stay lit up and nothing would change), but now after the update, when I hold it down, it seems to keep on alternating between the two modes (so it would light up and light down and keep alternating till I let go). Moreover, even when I press the CAPS LOCK button, an indicator seems to pop up (showing if the CAPS LOCK button is "On" or "Off". I don't want this either and I want to turn both features off. And I can't seem to find a solution to this anywhere! I just want my old settings back, I really don't like this new feature. Please help. Thanks in advance!
(sidenote: I have tried turning off toggle keys from control panel, and the "extra animations" bit)

Hi @Ansel_Anif,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your recent PC update has introduced new behaviors for your Caps Lock key, which can be quite frustrating. Since you've already tried adjusting the toggle keys and animation settings without success, we might need to consider a few other options to resolve your issue.
Here are a few steps you can try to revert your Caps Lock behavior to the original state:
Check Keyboard Software: If you're using a specialized keyboard (such as gaming keyboards from brands like Logitech or Razer), it might have its own software that controls the behavior of the keys. Check if there's any software installed related to your keyboard and explore its settings for anything related to the Caps Lock key.
Adjust Keyboard Settings in Windows:
- Keyboard Repeat Settings: Sometimes, the key repeat settings can influence how the Caps Lock key behaves. You can adjust these settings by going to Control Panel > Keyboard. Here, you can adjust the 'Repeat delay' and 'Repeat rate'. Experiment with these to see if it changes the behavior of the Caps Lock key.
- Ease of Access Settings: Since you mentioned the appearance of an indicator, double-check the settings in Ease of Access. Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard and make sure all settings like "Show Caps Lock status on screen" are turned off.
Update or Roll Back Keyboard Drivers:
- Update Drivers: Go to Device Manager (you can search for it in the Windows search bar), expand the 'Keyboards' section, right-click on your keyboard, and select 'Update driver'. Windows will attempt to find a newer driver if available.
- Roll Back Driver: If this issue started after an update, you might consider rolling back the driver. In the Device Manager under 'Keyboards', right-click your keyboard, go to 'Properties', then to the 'Driver' tab, and see if the 'Roll Back Driver' option is available. This option will only be enabled if Windows has a previous driver to revert to.
Windows System Restore: If all else fails, you can use Windows System Restore to revert your system to a point before the update was installed. Search for 'Create a restore point' in the Windows search bar, go to the 'System Properties' window, click the 'System Restore...' button, and follow the prompts to choose a restore point before the update.
Check for Additional Updates: Sometimes, issues introduced by one update are fixed in subsequent updates. Make sure your system is fully updated by checking Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and applying all available updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
