(I used a translator, so the expression can be awkward)
My laptop is OMEN by hp transcend 16 and Windows version is Windows 11 24h2
In the meantime, it was automatically in hibernate a few hours later if only the screen was covered with the charger removed. Recently, however, if I close the screen and remove the charger, the power will be turned off after a few hours. When I turned it on again, all the apps I was using disappeared, so I'm expressing it as "Power off." But another strange thing is that I didn't press the power button, just opened the screen (the mouse also moved), and sometimes it turns on. It's different from when I turn it off and turn it back on myself. I'd appreciate it if you could let me know why hibernate mode isn't working properly :'-(

Hi @제발아무문제생기지마
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for your message! I understand that your HP OMEN Transcend 16 laptop running Windows 11 is having issues with hibernate mode not working properly after closing the screen. Let's go through a few potential causes and solutions to help you get hibernate mode functioning properly again.
Possible Causes & Solutions
1. Check Power Settings in Windows 11
It seems like the laptop might be turning off unexpectedly rather than entering hibernation. You can check and adjust your power settings to ensure hibernate mode is enabled and working correctly.
Steps to check and adjust the power settings:
- Open Settings by pressing Windows + I.
- Go to System > Power & Battery.
- Scroll down to Related settings and click on Additional power settings (this will open the Control Panel's Power Options).
- In the Power Options window, click on Choose what closing the lid does on the left side.
- Make sure that both On battery and Plugged in options are set to Hibernate for "When I close the lid."
- If Hibernate is not listed, click on Change settings that are currently unavailable and enable the Hibernate option in the list of available options.
If Hibernate is enabled and correctly set, try closing the lid and see if it works as expected.
2. Ensure Hibernate Mode is Enabled
Sometimes, hibernation mode is turned off by default, especially if there has been an update or a system change. You can check and enable hibernate mode manually via Command Prompt.
Steps to enable Hibernate via Command Prompt:powercfg /hibernate on
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator by searching for "cmd" in the Start menu, then right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
- In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter:
- Close the Command Prompt.
- Restart your laptop and check if hibernate works when you close the screen.
3. Update Power Drivers and BIOS
It's possible that outdated drivers or a BIOS update is affecting how your laptop handles hibernation.
Steps to update drivers:
- Go to Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu).
- Expand Batteries and right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, then choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Update all drivers related to Power, Battery, and ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface).
Steps to update BIOS:
- Visit the official HP Support website: HP Support.
- Search for your laptop model (OMEN by HP Transcend 16).
- Check for any available BIOS updates and install them if available
I hope this helps.
