I'm trying to find the windows OS product key for my laptop Model HP-15dw0037,
It really should not be an act of congress to find license numbers and product keys.
Back when the numbers came on stickers on the equipment, there were no problems.

Hi:
The reason why Microsoft made all PC manufacturers quit putting product stickers on PC's when windows 8 came out...to prevent the unauthorized use of using OEM product keys on different PC's which was against their licensing terms.
Plus, the product key would wear off some PC's and caused problems when folks couldn't read the product keys anymore to reinstall Windows.
All Windows product keys since 2012 are encrypted in the PC's BIOS and are not needed to reinstall Windows and they can't be used on another PC since they are pre-activated, and the keys will never wear off a label.
It doesn't take an act of congress to view the product key that came with your PC.
Install the free Showkey Plus app from the Microsoft Store and it will show you the Windows product key in your PC's BIOS and the version of Windows the key is good for.

Paul, Thanks for the help.
I did not find this solution on HP or Microsoft supports sites.
I do not mind the file being stored electronically, but if your computer is not working your SOL.
Just a few thoughts for HP and Microsoft to consider.
Us old guys, do not want an app for every website and every function.
The Windows Product key should be with the other system properties and specifications.
Buts that for HP and Micrcosoft to fix.
Thanks for your help.
