Hi @pamsaunt,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To fix the incorrect default location on your HP Chromebook x360 14, you can try the following solutions.
Check Chromebook Location Settings
Ensure that the correct location permissions are enabled:
- Go to Settings on your Chromebook.
- Scroll down and click on Privacy and Security.
- Under Site Settings, click Location.
- Make sure that Ask before accessing (recommended) is toggled on, and any websites that you want to provide your location to are allowed.
Reset Location Access in Chrome Browser
Sometimes, Chrome’s location cache may need to be refreshed:
- Open Chrome and type chrome://settings/content/location in the address bar.
- Clear any websites listed under the Block or Allow sections.
- Relaunch Chrome and see if your location updates correctly.
Ensure Location Services are Enabled
Google relies on your network's IP address or Wi-Fi signals for location accuracy:
- Go to Settings > Network.
- Ensure that your Wi-Fi is enabled, as it can help improve location accuracy.
- Consider using a stable Wi-Fi network as mobile hotspots may cause location mismatches.
Update Chrome OS
If your system is outdated, there may be bugs affecting your location services:
- Go to Settings > About Chrome OS and check for updates.
- Apply any updates, then restart the Chromebook.
Use an Extension
If you need precise control over your location, consider using a browser extension like Location Guard to manually set a default location. This will override Chrome's default location service.
Restart Chromebook or Perform a Hard Reset
If the issue persists, try restarting or performing a hard reset:
- Press and hold the Refresh button and tap the Power button to restart.
- To hard reset, turn off the Chromebook, then press and hold Refresh + Power simultaneously.
These steps should help you correct the default location on your Chromebook.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
