I see this error daily in the Reliability History:  Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80073D02: 9P4W8RFN9M2T-AD2F1837.HPSystemEventUtility.

There is nothing in either the HP Support Assistant or Windows update that includes this attempted update.  DO I need to uninstall this non-critical utility, or can this be resolved?

@hij2001 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are getting a 0x80073D02 error.

Error code 0x80073D02

This issue usually occurs in Windows 10 Insider Preview and prevents users from installing apps from the Store. The best solution for this problem is simply resetting the Microsoft Store using the WUReset.exe command.

Praveen -

Thanks for the prompt response!  I have seen several errors like this one over the last couple of weeks from HPSystemEventUtility, HPThermalControl, AppUpIntelGrahicsExperience, and IGCCTray (another Intel Graphics issue), none of which I was attempting to install.  All of these seem to have been resolved with the installation of this week's 2020-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 2004 for x64  (KB4571756) on 9/8.

I will save your suggestion on resetting the MS Store using the WUReset command if this recurs.

Regards,

Howard

@hij2001

I understand your concerns.

Please perform the system file check.

1) Select Start, and in the search box, enter Command Prompt. Press and hold (or right-click) Command Prompt (Desktop app) from the search results and select Run as administrator.

2) Enter DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth (note the spaces before each "/").

3) Enter sfc /scannow (note the space between "sfc" and "/").

Have a nice day!!
