Thank you, Paul.
Problem #2 has been resolved. The unknown device is now shown as a computer with the ACPI running on the x64 system.
As for the other two questions with the yellow smudges, the graphics adapters are fine and work as they should and I should err on the side of caution and not to bungle the Microsoft controllers. Is my understanding correct?
May I ask you a question that is not related to the hp machines? The HP 15-gw0030ur has a high definition screen, so it's supposed to display everything in high definition. But a software program has blurry characters at the same time as another program displays clear and sharp characters.
The three line at the top are blurry,
the bottom half with "kingston" is sharp
Can it be fixed somehow besides trying to install another version or its competitor's software?

You're very welcome.
That's correct.
The graphics adapter and storage controller drivers are fine, and there is no need to do anything further with those.
Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to your question regarding high definition display quality.

Thank you, Paul.
This notebook has a non-removable battery. In your opinion, which method of obtaining a longer service life would be preferable:
1. Charge battery to the full, then disconnect the laptop from the mains, let it discharge to about 20%, connect it to the mains again, repeat the cycle
2. Keep the machine connected to the mains all the time. Is it healthy for a battery to continue being connected after reaching the full charge?

You're very welcome.
Batteries don't have to be 'exercised' like they used to have to be (charge to 100%, unplug and run the PC until the low battery warning comes on).
You can leave your PC connected most of the time.
What I do is to leave the notebook plugged in, and then once a month, I unplug it and use your first method.
However, I let it go down to 10% or so before plugging it back in again.
There are reports of some notebooks with internal batteries where the battery swells (builds up gas), and causes stress on the case and keyboard, making them bulge.
I often wonder if that is because folks never unplug the notebook from AC power, or it is just a defect in certain batteries.

Hi Paul,
Apparently I failed to notice another glitch in the device manager but I am not sure how it got there.
IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers
Standard controller SATA AHCI
Would you give me a link to the correct driver if it is needed. The icon is a yellow smudge, not an exclamation mark
Thanks again.
