HP Deskjet F2240 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Have been trying for sometime to install a copy of HP Smart. Always sends me to microsoft site where it just hangs up.

Have installed HP Support Assistant and recognizes computer and printer F2240 Deskjet and have downloaded all the latest updates. Microsoft seems to be the issue and have registered with MS and all seems fine till I press Install. Reading that you don't have to download from MS but all HP sites takes me to MS for the download.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

Regards,

Dave

Welcome to the HP Community --

This printer likely does not support HP Smart.

The User Guide is dated 2007 -- HP Smart is generally rated to work with printers manufactured in 2010 (and newer).

Relevant to Windows 10

The Windows Built-in driver -- at this writing, still available for Windows 10 - does provide basic print function.

Additional apps that do not depend on HP Smart and do not require the Full Feature Software can be used for scan.

Old driver is Gone

We see occasional questions about printers for which full driver software installation packages are no longer listed for current (or older) versions of Windows.

The software for this printer is no longer listed as available from HP.

When available for the printer and a supported version of Windows, install the Windows built-in print drivers.

When installed, the Windows print driver provides basic print function.

Scan? See Section FAQ > How do I use the printer functions with the built-in driver?

Scan your documents and photos:

Complete your scan jobs with a Windows app that works with the built-in driver.

Examples

Windows Fax and Scan: In Windows, search for and open Windows Fax and Scan. Click New Scan, and then select your printer.

Windows Paint: In Windows, search for and open Paint. Click FileFrom scanner or camera.

Windows Scan app: In Windows, search for and open the Windows Scan app. If it is not listed, go to Windows  Scan (in English) to install it.
