Greetings to all the experts, I'm looking for a way to access the "advanced" BIOS on my laptop. I want to access it so I can increase the onboard video memory. Unfortunately, the initial BIOS doesn't provide advanced options. I've read about commands to access it, but they haven't worked for me. Any ideas?

Hi @Dannoger
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Accessing advanced settings in the BIOS, especially on laptops with an InsydeH20 BIOS, can be tricky. HP typically locks advanced options to prevent unintended changes that could affect system stability.
Here are some points to consider:
Accessing Advanced BIOS Settings
Standard Access:
- When booting your laptop, press the F10 key repeatedly to enter the BIOS setup. This will load the standard BIOS menu, which usually does not include advanced settings.
Advanced BIOS:
- There's no official method provided by HP for accessing hidden advanced settings within the BIOS.
- Any modifications or unofficial methods, such as using key combinations or third-party tools, can risk voiding your warranty or damaging the system.
Increasing Video Memory:
- Video memory in many laptops is dynamically allocated from the system RAM and managed by the BIOS and operating system. Attempting to manually increase this through the BIOS is generally not allowed.
Recommendations
- Caution: It's essential to proceed with caution when attempting any BIOS modifications, as incorrect changes can lead to system instability or failure to boot.
- External Solutions: If video performance is an issue, consider optimizing the system through software settings or by using an external GPU, if applicable.
Unfortunately, accessing advanced BIOS features is often constrained by the manufacturer for safety, and there may not be a straightforward way to adjust these settings on your HP Pavilion laptop.
