Hi @Vasilis_K,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your integrated camera is showing a gray screen while the camera light is on, it indicates that the camera is being detected but is not capturing or displaying video properly. Here’s a comprehensive guide to troubleshooting and resolving this issue:
1. Check Camera Privacy Settings
- Windows Privacy Settings:
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
- Ensure that access to the camera is allowed for apps. Make sure that both Allow apps to access your camera and the specific apps (Teams, Zoom) are turned on.
2. Restart Your Computer
- Simple Restart:
- Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve issues with hardware components. Restart your computer and check if the camera starts functioning correctly.
3. Check Camera in Different Apps
- Test in Different Apps:
- Open different video conferencing or camera apps (e.g., Camera app, Skype) to see if the issue is specific to Teams or Zoom or affects all applications.
4. Update Camera Drivers
Update Drivers:
- Go to Device Manager (right-click the Start menu and select Device Manager).
- Locate Imaging Devices and find your camera.
- Right-click on the camera and select Update driver. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Reinstall Drivers:
- If updating doesn’t work, try uninstalling the camera driver and then reinstalling it:
- In Device Manager, right-click the camera and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your computer, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
5. Check for Windows Updates
- Update Windows:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Check for and install any pending updates. Sometimes updates can fix compatibility issues with hardware.
6. Check Camera App Settings
- Test with Camera App:
- Open the Camera app (search for it in the Start menu) to see if it’s functioning there.
- If it works in the Camera app but not in Teams or Zoom, the issue might be with those specific applications.
7. Adjust Camera Settings in Apps
Teams Settings:
- Open Microsoft Teams, go to Settings (click on your profile picture and select Settings), then go to Devices.
- Ensure the correct camera is selected under Camera.
Zoom Settings:
- Open Zoom, go to Settings (click on your profile picture and select Settings), then go to Video.
- Make sure the correct camera is selected.
8. Test Camera in Safe Mode
- Boot into Safe Mode:
- Restart your computer and hold down the Shift key while selecting Restart from the login screen.
- Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings and click Restart.
- Select Safe Mode and check if the camera works there. If it does, there may be a software conflict or third-party application causing the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
