HP Spectre x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 16-f1000 IDS Base Model

I am using the "Thunderbolt 3 Router, CE-LINK - Thunderbolt3 to dual DP" with my HP Spectre x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 16-f1000 IDS Base Model with two external 4K monitors oriented portrait on one and landscape on the other. It works fine until it wakes up from sleep and swaps the monitors and I have to go through Display settings to swap them back.

The hardware Ids are on the Thunderbolt device are:

USB4\VID_8086&PID_15D3&REV_0006 |
USB4\VID_8086&PID_15D3

I noticed it is running  a Microsoft driver dated 6/19/2025 v 10.0.26100.448. I have been told by an ignorant AI that there is a Intel driver for this that works better recovering from sleep mode. Is this true? It sent me on many wild goose chases - no such driver can be found though perhaps Dell has one if I can trust that.

Hi @MDEdwards,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I completely understand how frustrating it can be to deal with swapped monitor orientation every time your HP Spectre x360 16-inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 16-f1000 IDS Base Model wakes from sleep, especially when your workflow depends on a specific layout across high-resolution displays.

Yes, you're on the right track — the issue you're experiencing with your Thunderbolt 3 to dual DisplayPort adapter and external 4K monitors swapping orientation after sleep is often tied to driver behavior, especially with USB4/Thunderbolt controllers.

Intel does provide a dedicated Thunderbolt driver that improves stability and sleep/wake behavior. Here's how to get it:

🔗 Download the Latest Intel Thunderbolt Driver

This version has been confirmed to support a wide range of Thunderbolt controllers, including the 15D3 variant.

 Installation Tips:

  1. Unplug your Thunderbolt dock or adapter.
  2. Uninstall the current Thunderbolt software from Device Manager > System Devices (look for anything labeled Thunderbolt or USB4).
  3. Install the Intel driver package.
  4. Reboot your system.
  5. Reconnect your Thunderbolt device.

After fixing the driver, you can also lock the display orientation in Windows to prevent accidental swaps:

  • Go to Settings > System > Display.
  • Select each monitor and set the correct orientation.
  • Scroll down and disable auto-rotation if available.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
