Intermittently my laptop begins typing backwards, in other words when I enter ABC what appears on the screen is CBA. The insertion point appears to the left of the last character entered instead of to the right. If I click in a different field it will begin to enter properly. This occurs at intervals from a few minutes to a few hours. I have not noted any pattern as to what tool I am using (MS Word, Excel, a website, etc.)

@Dragonscribe1 Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that Intermittently my laptop starts typing backward.
- In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
- Click View and select Show Hidden Devices.
- Click the arrow next to Keyboards, right-click the keyboard device name, then select Uninstall to remove the device from Windows.
- Continue removing device names in the Keyboards category until all device names have been uninstalled.
- Restart the notebook and check.
Also, check http://hp.care/2eAwv2U and try following the steps listed.
If the issue still persists, I need to know whether the key works in the command prompt or not. Press Windows logo key + R to get the run window. Type cmd and press ok to get the command prompt window. Type here and see if that gives you any errors.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.
