i Have my eye on an external gpu that uses thunderbolt 3 connections in order to work. When I checked my bios to see if it supports thunderbolt, it says “Thunderbolt 3 devices using the Type-C port are not currently supported” does this mean that a future bios update will allow my usb c port to use thunderbolt 3? Are there any adapters I can use so that I can support thunderbolt 3?

@mat Welcome to HP Community!
I have checked the user manual. This laptop have the USB C type port. Please see the below screenshot.
Please let me know when you connect the device to the USB c type port are you getting any error message.
Also, which device you are connecting to the USB C type port.
