Hi, I have an HP Laptop 15s-eq2xxx with an AMD Ryzen 5 5500U. I notice that the laptop performs better when it is plugged in compared to when it's on battery power. I understand that running plugged in allows the laptop to provide maximum performance, but I am concerned about the battery health.

  • Will keeping the laptop plugged in for long periods affect the battery life?
  • Is it okay to keep the laptop plugged in most of the time while using it to get better output, or will this harm the battery over time?
  • Are there any settings I can adjust to maintain battery health while using the laptop plugged in?

I want to make sure I’m maintaining my battery correctly while also getting the best performance from my device.

Hi:

 

It's fine to leave your notebook plugged in most of the time but I do not recommend leaving it connected to A/C power 24/7/365 as that may lead to battery swelling since the battery is in a constant 100% charge state.

 

Your notebook does not have any settings to limit the battery charge.
