Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb2000 (90Q63AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I am reaching out regarding an issue I’ve encountered with my HP Victus 15 laptop. I am unable to use the Windows Hello feature, as the option is not available on my device. I have checked the settings thoroughly, but despite my efforts, Windows Hello remains unavailable, and I am unsure how to resolve this.

Could you kindly assist me in troubleshooting this issue? Specifically, I would appreciate guidance on any steps I might need to take to enable Windows Hello or any potential system requirements or updates that may be missing.

For your reference, my laptop's details are as follows:

  • Model: HP Victus 15
  • Operating System: Windows 11
  • BIOS Version: AMI F.02

Hi @elisonpokhrel

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Let's walk through a troubleshooting process to ensure you're able to enable and use Windows Hello.

If your laptop have the necessary hardware, Windows Hello won’t be available. You can check the HP website or your laptop's manual to confirm whether it includes a fingerprint reader or IR camera.Click here

2. Enable Windows Hello in Settings

If your laptop has the necessary hardware, follow these steps to enable Windows Hello.

Open Windows Settings:

  • Press Windows + I to open the Settings window.

Go to Accounts:

  • Click on Accounts > Sign-in options.

Check Windows Hello Settings:

Under the Windows Hello section, you should see options for Fingerprint, Face recognition, or PIN.

If your system supports it and the option is available, you’ll see an option to set up Face Recognition or Fingerprint under the "Manage how you sign in to your device" section.

If the Windows Hello options are missing here, it’s a sign that either:

  • The necessary hardware isn’t detected.
  • Your device may not be compatible.
  • There may be an issue with drivers or system configuration.

3. Update Drivers and BIOS

Update Biometric Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager (press Windows + X and select Device Manager).
  • Look for Biometric Devices (for facial recognition or fingerprint readers).
  • Right-click on the device and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software to let Windows search for the latest driver.

Update Windows:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates. Make sure your Windows installation is fully up-to-date.

Update BIOS and Firmware:

  • Go to HP Support and enter your laptop's serial number or model number (Victus 15-fb2000) to check for the latest BIOS and firmware updates.
  • HP Support Assistant can also help you update the BIOS and other system drivers.

4. Check Group Policy (If Windows Hello is Disabled)

In some cases, Windows Hello might be disabled through Group Policy. If you have access to Windows Pro or Enterprise, follow these steps:

  1. Open Group Policy Editor:
    • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
    • Type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to Windows Hello Settings:
    • Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Hello for Business.
  3. Check for Disabled Settings:
    • Make sure settings like Use Windows Hello for Business are enabled or not configured.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
