Microsoft Windows 11

Im having a problem while using my computer on windows 11, the keyboard and touchpad suddenly go crazy and start clicking and typing things on their own, tried connecting a seperate keyboard and mouse to see if it was a hardware problem, but the same problem still presentes itself even using an external keyboard and Mouse. the wierd thing about this is that on the BIOS, the keyboard and Touchpad work just fine. without no errors at all, but as soon as i boot up into windows it goes crazy again. I saw online odly that if you disabled the Intel Integrated Sensor Solution on device manager it somehow solved the problem and odly enough it did. i can use the computer now, but the same problem still happens periodically. This makes me think some sensor for the 2 in 1 is causing the problem, since ive narrowed it down to software issues. I dont know if anyone else has had this problem, or if they have tips on what i can do to solve this issue. Thanks for your time!

Hi @RF_005,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your keyboard and touchpad are malfunctioning on your HP Spectre 360x 15 ch011dx, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Restart your computer: Sometimes a simple restart can resolve hardware issues.
  • Check for driver updates: Make sure your keyboard and touchpad drivers are up to date. You can do this by going to the HP website and checking for driver updates for your model.
  • Disable and enable the drivers: Go to the Device Manager in your Control Panel, find your keyboard and touchpad drivers, right-click, and select "Disable device". Then right-click again and select "Enable device". This will reset the drivers and might resolve any issues.
  • Check for malware: Run a malware scan on your computer. Malware can interfere with hardware functionality.
  • Check the connection: Make sure the connection between your keyboard and touchpad and the computer are secure. Try unplugging and plugging them back in.
  • Try an external keyboard and mouse: If the issue persists, try using an external keyboard and mouse to see if the issue is with your computer or the keyboard and touchpad.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello thanks for your response, Ive tried everthing you mentioned and none worked. the problem still persists even when an external keyboard and mouse are connected. This looks like a software problem with the 2in 1 function of the computer as the problems start to present isetlf after the computer detects it entered tablet mode. must be a faulty sensor or something that is making the computer fail, since the hardware shows no problems in the Bios and UEFI scans. Seems to be a problem between the computer and windows which is making it impossible to use on a daily basis. the best temporary solution ive found is to disable the Intel Integrated sensor solution, but i have reason to suspect another device needs to disabled. tried restoring bios to its default setting, re installing windows, ect to no success. the wierd thing is that i keep doing the systems check and it shows no errors.

As you can see in this very forums and on a quick search online, it seems HP 2 in 1 laptops have problems entering and getting out of sleep, signaling possible design or component failures either on the lid or hinge sensor, which tells the laptop at what position the screen is and whether its powered on or off. This leads me to believe that the issue might originate from this, and the typing words on its own and the touchpad moving flickering ect, is caused by the 2 in 1 base coding of the computer and windows  failing to comunicate with each other causing errors in detecting if the keyboard and mouse should be on or off, and if the sceen is in the open or closed position, causing mayhem. What supports my theory is that the computer often finds it hard to get out of sleep with the computer screen on, making me force restart it each time this happens in order to get the screen to turn on, the fact that the hardware is showing no failures during trouble shooting and systems checks, the fact that the problem gets tranferred into external equipment (mouse and keyboard), and the fact that the hardware works fine in the Bios and UEFI. Might be able to jump some hoops in order to fix this by disabling the 2 in 1 in its totality and making it a nomral laptop which defeats the purpose of getting a 2 in 1, but ill at least get a functioning laptop back.  but to do this i need to know which drivers make what tick in order to know what to turn off which i havent been able to find that still on my search.
