Hello,
My laptop is brand new and I have the following keyboard issues:
Shift 2 gives me the " symbol not the @ as required
Shift " gives me the @ symbol and not the " as required
Shift 3 gives me the £ symbol and not the # symbol
There are a couple of others also such as the ~ and ¬
I have checked keyboard language etc as I can find in other posts, but still no luck.
Thanks in advance 🙂
Erin

Greetings @errybarnes,
Thanks for the post.
I understand that you are facing an issue with your computer where the keyboard types incorrect characters, is that right?
Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.
Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.
Have you run a diagnostics on your computer?
Request you to select the keyboard layout again.
Along with selecting the correct language of the keyboard, make sure to select keyboard layout as QWERTY.
Refer to this HP Guided troubleshooter for step by step instructions.
If possible run a keyboard test from System diagnostics.
To enter system diagnostics, keep tapping F2 repeatedly on startup.
Select the component test and run a keyboard test.
Let me know if this helped.
