Microsoft Windows 11

Hey guys,

So I have been having an issue with my keyboard and I've been working on fixing it for a while now. I made the mistake of turning my laptop into tablet mode and my physical laptop keyboard doesn't seem to work anymore. I tried many things such as, restart my laptop, update it, and change my settings. Throughout the whole process, nothing helped and I'm not smart when it comes to tech. I wanted to ask how I can fix this so that I can go back to typing on my physical keyboard. Please help me!! and thank you!

Hi @mm121608,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your laptop's keyboard is not responding after being in tablet mode. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

Exit Tablet Mode: First, try exiting tablet mode if your laptop has a dedicated button or setting for it. Tablet mode is designed for touchscreen use, so exiting it may help restore functionality to your physical keyboard.

Check Keyboard Settings: Go to your laptop's settings and look for keyboard settings. Ensure that the physical keyboard is enabled and that there are no settings that might be causing it to be disabled or unrecognized.

Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software issues. Try restarting your laptop to see if that restores functionality to the keyboard.

Update Drivers: Make sure that your laptop's keyboard drivers are up to date. You can usually update drivers through the Device Manager in Windows or through the HP website.

Check Physical Connections: If your laptop's keyboard is not responding at all, there might be a physical connection issue. Check to see if the keyboard cable is securely connected to the motherboard inside your laptop.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
