Pavilion Power Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My keyboard often stops working completely after the laptop 'wakes up' from sleep. It is clearly a software issue, and is addressed here:

The hard reset does fix the problem - temporarily - but it is happening more and more often, much to my annoyance and inconvenience! Also I'm concerned that doing this hard reset is bad for the laptop and may be making the problem worse. If there is any way to permanently solve this that would be great. Seems like its a common problem so would assume there would be a fix by now.

@jamesdomm,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the keyboard.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

While you respond to that, I recommend you uninstall the keyboard driver from device manager and then restart the computer and check whether the issue is resolved.

Here is how it is done.

Select "Device Manager" from the pane on the left. Expand the Keyboards section, right-click on the

keyboard you want to repair and choose "Uninstall." Click the Windows "Start" button and select "Restart."

If you continue facing the issue, I recommend you update the BIOS and the chipset driver from the below link and check.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!
