The keyboard on my HP Pavilion laptop is not working properly. When I type, instead of text, the various keys create commands instead, as if the Windows key is stuck (but it is not). E.g. pressing “r” brings up the Run command box, pressing “e” opens windows explorer, “n” brings up a new tab etc. When the problem first arose, Microsoft Edge (which I don’t use) was opening endless tabs to the Help page (to infinity until the program crashed) but this issue doesn’t appear to be happening anymore (only a single Help page will open, perhaps this is from pressing the “h” key). I have connected an external keyboard and have the same problem, and have used the on-screen keyboard with the same results. I have already tried resetting the drivers, restarting the computer, sticky keys, and other accessibility issues and none have worked. There has been no damage to the computer (liquid or trauma). The issue came on only after the recent update to Windows 11, but I can’t be sure if it’s related. I’m currently running “sfc /scannow” in Powershell but am not hopeful. If anyone has any idea for a solution please let me know.

My guess is that this is a drivers issue -- as the Win11 drivers are not working properly, and reinstalling them is NOT going to fix that. Unfortunately, HP provides us no details or information on when new drivers are planned to be released, so we can not provide you any fix or any schedule to expect one.
If this were mine, I would see about rolling it back to Windows 10 while there is still time.
