Hi'
I have a pending update:
HP Development Company, L.P. - System - 11/19/2017 12:00:00 AM - 7.0.1.1
Status: Awaiting install
We need to start a separate installation to complete this update. Select install….
I have for some time ignored this because I have read several post about this update causing all kinds of problems.
But when I view the installed update history (driver updates) it turns out that this update was successfully installed on 26/02/2018 and also on 23/02/2018? What is going on and why is this update being installed over and over again?
What should I do to avoid getting in trouble with this update?

Hello @olhof
Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum.
This is a Windows update issue, not an HP issue. Here are 2 articles which provide clear and detailed instructions how to troubleshoot <Windows Update> function.
Please, check them and perform all the steps completely:
>> https://www.maketecheasier.com/stop-windows-installing-same-update/
If you have performed literally all the steps, you can do the following:
1. Go to Control Panel > Programs and features > Uninstall an update
2. Find this update and uninstall it
3. Run this Microsoft utility >> http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f22d5fdb-59cd-4275-8c95-1be17bf70b21/wushowhide.diagcab
4. Select the update which was installing over and over again and select to hide it

Restart the computer eventually.

Hi' IT_WinSec
Thank you for your answer.
I have read the documentation following the links you mention. It seems that there is a lot of possibilities (but not that straight forward for the average user) to cure this Windows Update problem.
For the time being I don’t have a pending update even though the HP update hasn’t been installed recently! So I will do nothing for the moment.
If the problem reappears I will try to block this particular update by using some of the tools.
It seems to me that Windows 7 and 8.1 were much more stable. As a Windows 10 user you have to install a never ending stream of updates that keeps you busy fixing various problems apparently caused by these same updates……..:o)!

Hi,
You are right. Unfortunately there is not a single thing which can be a straigh forward fix. The options (causes) can be many

You are right - Windows 7 and 8.1 are better when it comes to stability. More on this topic (not written by HP or me) >> http://itvision.altervista.org/why-windows-10-sucks.html
