I bought the fully maxed out hp spectre x360 with 16gb of ram and 1tb of nvme ssd storage roughly a month ago and it's already lagging and having battery issues. One example could be that I opened a chrome tab and you could one see a bar (I could only see the line of where your profile picture is) of the chrome tab and later you could see rest. One percent of the battery lasts for two minutes and that's with only 3 chrome tabs open youtube, the other is bose their web page and my gmail. This clearly shouldn't take that much battery. The only update is the bios update for Intel processors which I'll download tonight. Also, I didn't download that many apps just chrome, spotify, steam, a game that is cross-platform it's also on mobile so not graphic intensive. Is there something wrong with my laptop so that I know whether to send it back or are there more hp spectres like mine?

I understand that you have a new HP Spectre x360 - 13-ac041nd. I read that you're facing performance issues and also the battery does not hold a charge for a longer time. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.
I would like to know the following information to assist you better:
- Has the performance been like this since day one or did any software changes or updates take place after which these issues started?
I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- Power off the laptop.
- Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
- Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
- Power ON the laptop.
Please perform the steps from this HP document to fix performance related issues in Windows 10.
Secondly, to improve the battery performance you may surely update the BIOS. If the battery performance issues continue then suggest you to follow the below steps:
- Open the device manager.
- Expand batteries. Right click on the ACPI drivers in battery and select uninstall.
- Close the device manager and restart the laptop.
- While restarting, the Windows operating system will reinstall the battery drivers.

The performance hasn't been like this since day one. Day one it was just Spotify but I didn't really think too much of it. Also, what are some ways to silence the fans is a laptop cooler fine or do I just need to elevate my laptop? Thanks in advance

You've been fabulous to work with considering your superb technical skills, remarkable patience and great attitude. Kudos to you for that.
If the fan is louder than usual then please check if the laptop is overheating.
Here is an HP document that can help reduce the fan noise levels.
Hope this helps Feel free to keep me posted for any further questions. Take care! 🙂

Hi,
I checked the product specifications of the laptop and see that this laptop does not come with a pen. Please click here to access the product specifications (Product Features) from the HP Shopping website.
