HP Victus 15t-fa000

I have this scrolling issue ever since you bought this laptop (Victus 15t-fa000) I thought it would away with software updates but now I am looking for solutions here.

Every time I scroll on any page (web, folders, different browsers) there's a second lag. It's not always it only happens if I give the scrolling a 15 sec gap. If I read a sentence and try to scroll it will lag and if I just keep scrolling there won't be any delay. I tried with down arrow key and same problem. I also tried with different browsers and folders still the same. But I have no lags watching videos or playing games. Just while scrolling

Hi @Sumanth_05,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand that on your Victus 15t-fa000, scrolling lags for about a second whenever you pause for 10–15 seconds, but works smoothly if you keep scrolling continuously. You’ve noticed this across browsers, folders, and apps, but there’s no lag while gaming or watching videos. Let’s try a few steps to fix this:

Check touchpad/scroll settings:

Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and ensure sensitivity is set to High.

If using an external mouse, check mouse settings in Control Panel > Mouse.

Update graphics drivers:

Download and install the latest Intel/NVIDIA/AMD drivers from HP Support or the GPU manufacturer’s website.

Disable power-saving features:

In Control Panel > Power Options, select High Performance.

In Intel Graphics Command Center or NVIDIA Control Panel, disable power-saving or adaptive performance modes.

Check background apps:

Open Task Manager and look for high CPU/disk usage after being idle for a few seconds. Disable unnecessary startup apps.

Turn off smooth scrolling:

In Chrome/Edge: Go to Settings > System and Performance → disable Use smooth scrolling.

In Windows Explorer: Open View Options → try disabling animation effects in System > Advanced system settings > Performance.

Update BIOS & drivers via HP Support Assistant: Run HP Support Assistant to make sure BIOS, chipset, and input drivers are all updated.

Test with another input device: If possible, test scrolling with an external USB mouse to see if the lag is touchpad-driver related.

I hope this helps.
